Water & Agriculture: A Workshop for Saskatchewan's Future Leaders
“Water and Agriculture” is a two-and-a-half day residential workshop for up-and-coming leaders aged 18-35 years. The purpose of this workshop is to provide future Saskatchewan leaders with the tools, insight and connections to promote sustainable water resource and watershed management. Using inspired problem solving amongst the group, we will work together and explore solutions to effectively manage the water resources within the Central Saskatchewan region. Through experiential field tours (related to agriculture, flooding and wetlands) the group will be exposed to key issues, and mentors who are changing the tide by implementing land-based solutions. The group will then explore, through interactive dialogue and group activities, innovative ideas for sustainable change within the region. Don’t miss this opportunity to engage with local organizations and individuals leading the way in sustainable development, and peers who are ready to join you as tomorrow’s smart decision makers!
Why Saskatchewan?
Saskatchewan is one of the country’s leaders in agricultural production. We also experience some of the greatest extremes in water—most of the province is usually experiencing a drought or a flood, even if the year previous was just the opposite. If we are to sustain health communities, environments and industries, we have to be adaptable and creative in how we manage our water resources. Saskatchewan needs strong, passionate leaders with an understanding of how to achieve this goal, particularly around how we manage our water to suite our agricultural needs. This workshop will explore both the threats to these water systems, as well as some solutions that have been working so far.
Please note that this workshop is open to those living in Saskatchewan, aged 18-35 yrs. Download the complete invitation, above, for all the details!
