Cultures of water content.. As you may know Brazil is one of the countries with the biggest amount of drinkable water, water here is extremely cheap, the water bill in the end of the month is never considered in most of families budget, and for the poorest part of the population they almost don’t have to pay for water. This lack of importance on how to consume water made the Brazilians a people that waste a enormous amount of water, things like washing cars for hours are common, also the water that we use in the toilets is drinkable, the waste of water is something very impressive, but most of the people don’t really care. This together with the lack of rain that is happening in the last few years due to the environmental effects of pollution, and also the pollution of the water sources will take Brazil to a future where we that have an incredible amount of water will start to suffer from lack of drinkable water. (Elias, Brazil) I remember a story about a large lake at the centre of the city, it existed when my grandmother was young… this area, el Batan, used to have much water, it made the land cheap. But as the city expanded it was filled in and buildings went up, the water and lakes were filled up. House prices went up. And because of all this continuing construction now water pressure and availability is a problem! I don’t know where the water comes from now… (Edith, Ecuador)
