Downloadable PDF on Waterlution and Our Programs (134kb) The Future of Water Workshop Series is Waterlution's program dedicated to building capacity on local, regional and national water issues within the youth demographic (20-35 years of age). Waterlution’s Future of Water workshops invite applications from youth within the public, private, non-profit and academic sectors. We encourage diversity – both in experience, ethnicity and viewpoints. Our job at Waterlution is to ensure that all selected participants feel heard and welcomed throughout the workshop to ensure that a variety of viewpoints can be shared, discussed and more deeply understood. Waterlution offers a variety of options for participants and speakers (we prefer to think of our speakers as mentors) to stay connected post-workshops. We support and facilitate opportunities for inter-generational dialogue and learning as well as tools for participants to maintain and develop their networks. Participants are offered several public policy working groups to contribute to as well as assisting Waterlution reach out and design engaging workshops and activities for elementary and secondary school aged youth. Water Learning Programs Workshops and learning journeys are customized to meet your needs around water learning. Waterlution designs public and/or private programs to explore: local cultures of water, organizational relationships with water, regional/contextual issues – linking water to the broader sustainability and health of our communities and our planet, corporate responsibility issues, how water is embedded in the sustainability debate, and more! Workshops and learning journeys are experiential in nature and draw on a wide variety of interactive methodologies including Open Space Technology (www.openspaceworld.org) and World Café (www.theworldcafe.com). Extended learning experiences can include field trips, site visits with local water entrepreneurs and companies, and opportunities for deeper conversation and reflection. To compliment the experiencial learning component of our programs we invite scientists, policy makers, business decision makers, planners, engineers and educators to contribute their knowledge and expertise to the target audience. Water Learning Media We provide research and documentation services to share and communicate what people are feeling towards water and what relationships – and questions - people hold with water. In building a ‘knowledge ecology’ about water, we reach diverse communities, include different perspectives, and raise questions to inspire critical thinking among water stakeholders. Water learning media includes the design of learning tools such as CD-roms, video and film, publications, intranet dialogue platforms, and creative documentation of learning. We draw on action inquiry (integrating cycles of action and reflection in our process) to deepen content and involve others in co-creating an inspiring output. Workshop/Event Facilitation & Learning Process
Design We work with organizers to blend Waterlution’s key skills with the overall goals of an event or project. Waterlution provides event design and hosting – for workshops, conferences and project planning meetings – in your water work. Drawing on creative and participatory methodologies, our facilitation is available for coaching emerging projects and water entrepreneurs, encouraging networking within communities, and creating communities of practice relating to water within specialized groups, city council, companies and schools. For more information on any of the above, please contact Karen at karen@waterlution.org or Tatiana at tatiana@waterlution.org. |
